Shobanaa Bhalchandra, celebrated as the youngest of Chennai’s iconic Trio Sisters and a respected Bharatanatyam guru, presents an evocative evening of padams and javalis – lyrical compositions that explore the timeless textures of love, longing, pride, and passion. With each piece, she traces how emotions evolve – or endure – across generations, inviting a fresh reflection on the emotional core of the classical repertoire through a contemporary lens.
Trained in the Kalakshetra style under the renowned Dhananjayans and in the art of abhinaya under Padma Bhushan Kalanidhi Narayanan, Shobanaa brings rare depth, musicality, and expressive nuance to the stage.
She is joined by a stellar ensemble featuring Kalaimamani Radha Badri on vocals, Shri Vijayaraghavan on mridangam, Smt Neela Suykanya on nattuvangam, and Ms Mangala on violin. Together, they promise an intimate journey through the emotional and artistic heart of Bharatanatyam.
