The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation – David H. Koch Theater

The highly anticipated US premiere of India’s largest theatrical production commences on 12th September. The show has a line-up of exceptional Indian talent, along with a Tony & Emmy award-winning crew and has been conceived and directed by Feroz Abbas Khan.

Blending dance, art, fashion, and music, this production is a spectacular tribute to India’s past, present and future that travels the country’s history from 5000 BC until its independence in 1947. Featuring a cast of over 100 performers, opulent costumes and larger-than-life sets, The Great Indian Musical is an unrivalled theatrical experience. This marquee production will feature the collaboration of great artists like Ajay-Atul (music), Mayuri Upadhya, Vaibhavi Merchant, Samir & Arsh Tanna (choreography), Donald Holder (Light), Neil Patel (scenic design), Gareth Owen (sound design), John Narun (projection design), Renuka Pillai (makeup designer). The visual spectacle will also feature costumes designed by leading fashion designer Manish Malhotra. The show will run will have a limited run of five performances.

The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) is a first-of-its-kind, multi-disciplinary space in the sphere of arts, located in the heart of Mumbai, India. Since its opening in March 2023, the Cultural Centre has staged more than 1,500 shows featuring over 7,000 artists across venues, welcoming a total of more than two million guests. NMACC has been featured in the international publication Madame Figaro as one of the seven leading cultural centres of the world.

The NMACC India Weekend will premiere ‘The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation,’ India’s largest ever theatrical production – amongst other thoughtfully curated cultural presentations. It will also feature a ‘Great Indian Bazaar’ - where guests will be introduced to the finest Indian fashion and textiles, authentic Indian flavours, as well as dance, yoga and music experiences.
