Actor-director Madhura Velankar Satam leads the 50th show of a two-act play that celebrates Marathi language through music, dance, and storytelling.
Language holds centuries of memory, shaped by migration, reinvention, and the stories we choose to pass on. This two-act theatrical journey traces 2000 years of the Marathi language, from its ancient roots to its vibrant digital present.
Written by Dr Sameera Gujar Joshi and directed by Madhura Velankar Satam, the production blends theatre, music, dance, and literature to explore the cultural transformations that shaped Marathi across time. The first act unfolds through dramatic scenes, poetry, movement, and live music, bringing linguistic history to life. The second act turns to the present, spotlighting new literary voices. One selected writer’s work is performed live on stage and honoured with a certificate, followed by a playful audience quiz and a musical finale.
Choreographed by Sonia Parchure and performed by Akanksha Gade, Ashish Gade, and Madhur Velankar, this 50th show marks a celebration not just of language, but of the community that continues to give it meaning.
