Enter the fascinating literary worlds of Munshi Premchand, Mannu Bhandari, and Bhisham Sahni – resurrected on stage by actor-director Seema Pahwa and the legendary Ratna Pathak Shah.
What makes a story unforgettable? Sometimes, it’s not drama or grandeur, but the quiet truth it holds. Directed by Seema Bhargava Pahwa and starring the powerhouse performance of Ratna Pathak Shah among other talented actors, ‘Lafzon Ki Gathri’ brings together three short stories from Indian literature, each unfolding with subtlety and emotional depth. Performed by an all-female cast, the production reflects on memory, relationships, and the quiet strength that shapes everyday life.
The stories include 'Badi Didi', adapted from Munshi Premchand’s ‘Bade Bhai Sahab’, which captures the warmth and rivalry of sibling bonds. 'Akeli', work by Mannu Bhandari. traces one woman’s journey toward solitude and selfhood; and 'Yaadein' by Bhisham Sahni, a meditation on time, memory, and all that slips quietly away.
Produced by Manukriti Pahwa and performed to perfection by Ratna Pathak Shah, Seema Pahwa, Anubha Fatehpuria, Jaya Virlley, and Manukriti Pahwa, Lafzon Ki Gathri offers a theatre experience shaped by empathy, craft, and the enduring power of the written word.
