From stirring pieces influenced by flamenco, jazz, blues, rock, Latin, and Afro to Bengali songs – the inimitable Neil Mukherjee and ensemble present a vibrant set shaped by stories, sound, and spontaneity.
Led by award-winning guitarist and composer Neil Mukherjee, this original set brings together instrumentals and songs shaped by a wide spectrum of musical influences. Drawing from Flamenco, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Latin, Afro, and Indian styles, the performance captures the spirit of contemporary world fusion. Blending composition and improvisation, it offers an experience that is both exploratory and emotionally grounded.
The set features songs in Bengali and English, inspired by real-life experiences and personal reflection. With layered arrangements of piano, synthesisers, percussion, bass, drums, and multiple guitars, the music moves between textured soundscapes and tight rhythmic interplay—creating a journey that feels both expansive and intimate.
Joining Neil on stage are three accomplished musicians. Sayar Mitra, a versatile bassist and educator, has performed across jazz, RnB, folk, and classical styles, collaborating with artists such as Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and Ustad Zakir Hussain. Keyboardist Aditya Jayakar brings a distinctive blend of analog synthesisers, jazz-funk textures, and high-energy improvisation. Drummer Shravan Samsi bridges Indian classical and Western rhythmic traditions, shaped by a rich lineage and mentorship under Ranjit Barot and Pt. Yogesh Samsi.
Together, they create a compelling musical experience which is layered with energy, expression, and stories told through rhythm, melody, and sound.
