Padmashree Ustad Moinuddin Khan and his son Momin Khan bring the voice of the Sarangi to life in a vibrant celebration of classical and Rajasthani music.
The soulful voice of the Sarangi has echoed through Rajasthan’s deserts for generations – carrying the stories of love, devotion, and celebration. In this special concert, Ustad Moinuddin Khan and Momin Khan – eighth-generation bearers of this musical legacy – are joined by acclaimed tabla maestro Pt. Aditya Kalyanpur to present an evening that honours both classical precision and folk soul.
‘Strings of Sarangi’ offers a carefully curated selection of compositions showcasing the instrument’s emotional range – the poetic tenderness of Raag Champakali, the stately elegance of Rajasthani Maand, the raw energy of traditional folk melodies, and the devotional depth of Raag Bhairavi.
This performance is a living archive of sonic heritage. The Sarangi, with its human-like voice, becomes both the narrator and a memory keeper – bridging royal traditions and grassroots rhythms, while offering audiences a shared space of nostalgia, artistry, and cultural connection.
This performance is supported by Reliance Foundation.
