Witness the many shades of love unfold through Mohiniyattam, led by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Mandakini Trivedi and her senior disciple Aneri Sheth.
This dance production traces love in its many forms—devotional, sensual, vengeful, and transcendent—each explored through vivid storytelling and classical technique. Interpreted by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Mandakini Trivedi and her senior disciple Aneri Sheth, the performance brings emotional depth and choreographic nuance to each piece.
The evening opens with Surya Tattvam, where the rising sun becomes a symbol of renewal and awakening. Kamadeva Nritya introduces the god of love—playful, potent, and impossible to resist—as he casts desire across all boundaries. In Urvashi Shaapam, we witness love turn to anger and rejection, as the apsara curses Arjuna for spurning her affection. The tone softens in the Ashtapadi, as Radha reminisces about her first union with Krishna—full of mischief, passion, and quiet forgiveness. The evening ends with Jiva, where the soul moves beyond emotion and into union with the higher self.
Shifting in mood and movement, this production offers a layered reflection on love through the language of classical dance.
