Soak up the sound of the season as acclaimed sitarist Sahana Banerjee plays a medley of monsoon ragas – where timeless melodies are shaped by rain, rhythm, and tradition.
For centuries, monsoon has inspired some of Hindustani music’s most expressive ragas—melodies shaped by rain, longing, and seasonal rhythm. In this concert, one of India’s leading sitar artists Sahana Banerjee brings these compositions to life, accompanied by tabla prodigy Ojas Adhiya.
A distinguished artist of the Rampur Senia Gharana, Sahana was trained by her father, Prof. Santhosh Banerjee, and has since built a career spanning major festivals and concert halls across India and the world. A recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar and a Grade A artist with All India Radio, she is known for her refined technique and lyrical depth.
With a focus on monsoon ragas, some tracing their origins to Miyan Tansen, this performance is both seasonal and steeped in tradition, offering audiences a glimpse into the enduring emotional landscape of Indian classical music.
This performance is supported by Reliance Foundation.
