Witness a musical showcase by students of the Inspire India Project and Joyful Choir, featuring vocals, instruments, and original works spanning Indian classical and cinematic styles.
This uplifting performance features young voices from the Inspire India Project and Joyful Choir—two inclusive initiatives of the Shankar Mahadevan Academy. While Inspire India provides structured music education to children from underserved communities, Joyful Choir supports children living with autism in discovering the joy of music.
Brimming with colour, rhythm, and heart, the recital presents traditional and original compositions that these children have learned and created through weeks of training and collaboration. Some of the highlights include ‘Dancing Swaras’ and ‘Magical Merukhand’ – a playful exploration of swaras in motion; expressive bandishes that shift within a raga; and piano pieces such as ‘Passacaglia’, ‘Humma’, and ‘Kol and Keys’, combining classical and rhythmic elements.
The performance also features devotional pieces, including a Sufi song and Abhangs, a call to protect the Earth in ‘Humari Zameen’, and a heartfelt tribute to womanhood in ‘Woh Naari Hai’. A medley of Hindi film songs on guitar, along with Tamil and Hindi movie hits, adds cinematic flair. Rhythm takes on new life in a segment by Dharavi Rocks, where konnakol is performed using recycled plastic instruments.
Each piece reflects the joy, effort, and imagination of its young performers, offering audiences a vibrant celebration of inclusion, creativity, and the shared spirit of music.
