Bhakti presents an immersive and insightful new chapter, showcasing artworks that celebrate the Vaishnavite expression of devotion to Krishna – curated by Ashvin E. Rajagopalan.
Following the warm reception of ‘Bhakti: The Art of Krishna’ in 2024, the exhibition returns with a fresh focus – Krishna’s Grace. While the previous edition centered on Krishna’s life and love, this showcase broadens the perspective to celebrate the transformative power of devotion and its lasting impact on landscapes, communities, and culture.
The exhibition honours the spiritual narratives of Krishna and his divine source, Vishnu – the cosmic preserver – alongside the artists, devotees, and storytellers who nurture this living legacy. It invites visitors to journey through cosmology, architecture, art, and community traditions, charting how devotion has evolved over time through a pan-Indian lens.
The journey begins with Vishnu’s Dream, a specially commissioned artefact anchoring the exhibition’s cosmological vision. A timeline unfolds, tracing human history from caves and early dwellings to spiritual architecture, culminating in an experiential reconstruction of Tamil Nadu’s Vaikuntha PerumalTemple – showcasing the sacred geometry and cosmology of early Indian temple design.
The Crafts Village brings Krishna worship to life, as master artisans from across India demonstrate age-old crafting techniques – offering a rare glimpse into the traditions behind India’s visual and material culture. Guests are also treated to over 40 rare artworks and sculptures, many never publicly displayed, spotlighting the rich diversity of devotional expression across painting, sculpture, literature, and performance.
At its heart, ‘Bhakti: Krishna’s Grace’ highlights universal values – love, humanity, faith, humility, and courage – urging renewed commitment to cultural sustainability. It deepens understanding of India’s layered heritage and reflects the global rise of spiritual consciousness.
This exhibition is supported by Reliance Foundation.
