Be the first to witness the launch of Anuraag Dhoundeyal Collective’s debut album where Indian poetry meets global sound.
Blurring the lines between tradition and experiment, this evening traces the soul’s journey from the personal to the universal. The Anuraag Dhoundeyal Collective premieres Adwitīya – a concept album that reflects on the discovery of the non-dual self through Sufi verses, Kabir poetry, folk songs, and Vedantic philosophy. The performance unfolds through a lush sonic landscape shaped by Indian classical melodies and the textures of jazz, funk, neo-soul, and global folk.
The ensemble is led by vocalist-composer Anuraag Dhoundeyal, whose lifelong engagement with Indian mysticism and cross-cultural music has informed acclaimed performances across India, the UK, and the US. Joining him is multi-instrumentalist Shirish Malhotra, celebrated for his work across flute, saxophone, and bansuri in projects ranging from Coke Studio to the Symphony Orchestra of India.
Karim Ellaboudi, a UK-based pianist with Sudanese-Egyptian roots, brings expressive depth from his work in RnB, funk, and world music. Arka Chakraborty, a genre-fluid pianist and educator, draws from jazz, European classical, and spontaneous improvisation to add harmonic richness. Bassist Shashank Das anchors the sound with deep grooves and a seasoned global jazz sensibility, while 21-year-old Arjun Chakraborty – a rising force in India’s jazz scene – drives the rhythm section with nuance and flair.
Together, this cross-cultural collective offers a soundscape that is meditative where poetry becomes rhythm, and every note searches for something beyond the self.
