Watch singer-composer Kshitij Tarey bring Indian classical music to life in a fresh new way, as he mixes it with global styles like jazz, rock, and funk.
Designed to resonate with today’s listeners, this genre-blending concert by Kshitij Tarey reimagines Indian classical music for the modern ear. At its heart is a spirited dialogue between tradition and innovation, where Thumri flirts with jazz, Bandish rocks out, and soulful lullabies unfold in new harmonic landscapes.
‘Classical Crossover’ draws from a wide spectrum of global styles such as jazz, funk, blues, EDM, soul, reggae – woven into Indian frameworks like Bandish, Tarana, Thumri, and Dadra. The result is a musical palette as varied as the emotions it evokes – from the gentle ‘Kaa Karu Sajni’ where Thumri meets jazz, and dreamy ‘Nindiya’ – a lullaby in Khamaj, to the vibrant ‘More Ghar Aaye’ embracing classical funk, and the electric ‘Paayaliya Jhankaar’ where Bandish meets rock.
Kshitij Tarey, known for Bollywood hits like ‘Tose Naina Lage’, ‘Madno’, ‘Aye Khuda’, and ‘Main Khud Ko', brings his signature range and resonance to the stage. His performances also include reinterpretations of the ‘Rudrashtakam’ in ‘Shivaay’, and crowd-favourites such as ‘Jugni’, ‘Chaap Tilak', and ‘Dama Dam Mast Qalandar’.
