Join ace choreographer Avani Shah in a joyful Garba workshop exploring the vibrant rhythms, steps, and festive spirit of Gujarat’s beloved dance form.
Led by Avani Shah, an accomplished Bharatanatyam and Kathak dancer, choreographer, and cultural mentor, this Garba dance workshop celebrates the festive traditions of Gujarat and offers a delightful introduction to one of India’s most spirited folk dances. Rooted in devotion to Maa Durga, Garba is performed in circular formations with rhythmic claps and lively music, most famously during Navratri.
This hands-on session guides participants from basic to advanced steps, covering clapping patterns, intricate footwork, and group synchronisation. Alongside technique, you will explore the cultural and spiritual significance behind each movement. Open to all age groups, the workshop offers an engaging way to build rhythm, fitness, and a sense of community in a celebratory setting.
With over 35 years of offering her prayers through Raas Garba and Nritya, Avani has performed across India and abroad, mentoring countless dancers through her organisations – Varanam, Swarnam, and now NrityAvani. Her work includes collaborations with icons such as Ila Arun, Sanjay Leela Bhansali on ‘Devdas’ and ‘Ramleela’, and Garba Queen Falguni Pathak, bringing authenticity, artistry, and unmatched expertise to every performance and workshop.
