This Janmashtami, vocalist Sawani Shende brings Krishna’s many moods to life in a concert that blends raag, bhajan, and folk with lyrical depth and devotional warmth.
Drawing from the spiritual and melodic richness of Hindustani music, this concert celebrates the many moods of Lord Krishna through classical and semi-classical forms. At its heart is Sawani Shende, an acclaimed vocalist known for her expressive clarity and deep-rooted training in both the Kirana and Gwalior gharanas.
In ‘Krishnanjali’, Sawani presents a melodious, theme-based recital that brings together khayal, thumri, dadra, and Meera bhajans, infused with the colours of Indian folk traditions. The result is a concert that balances technical depth with emotional resonance, inviting both seasoned rasikas and casual listeners to experience the world of Krishna through sound, story, and devotion.
Joining Sawani on stage is a stellar ensemble – Rohit Majumdar on tabla, Rahul Gole on harmonium, Ammeet Kanade on flute, Rohit Kulkarni on keyboard, and Priti Pandharpurkar Joshi and Radhika Hegde on vocals.
This performance is supported by Reliance Foundation.
