In a powerful evening of theatre, Girija Oak-Godbole, Ishita Sharma, and Jaimini Pathak deliver three solo performances that delve into rebellion, longing, and the complexities of desire, drawn from iconic Hindi and Urdu stories.
Directed by Jaimini Pathak, this Hindi–Urdu play brings together three woman-centric short stories in the form of solo performances, each exploring a different facet of autonomy, love, and longing. In Krishna Baldev Vaid’s ‘Udaan’, four married women take a spontaneous break from their domestic routines, walking the streets of Delhi with a freedom that draws both curiosity and judgment. Manav Kaul’s ‘Sapna’ follows a man as he reflects on a past relationship, tracing how his dreams once intertwined with those of the woman he loved. And in Ismat Chughtai’s ’Til’, a renowned painter confronts the quiet shift between inspiration and desire as personal and professional boundaries begin to blur.
Performed by Girija Oak-Godbole, Ishita Sharma, and Jaimini Pathak, the production draws on a minimal aesthetic to focus attention on voice, gesture, and text; offering a rich, character-driven experience that is at once literary and intimate.
