Jahnvi Shrimankar leads a soulful evening of ghazals, revisiting the iconic renditions of legendary women singers through voice, poetry, and live music.
While shayari has long been shaped by male poets, some of the most memorable ghazal renditions have come through the voices of women. From Begum Akhtar and Iqbal Bano to Fareeda Khanum, and Reshma, these performers helped define the form over the last six decades, adding depth, emotion, and cultural resonance.
Singer Jahnvi Shrimankar brings this legacy to the stage, featuring iconic ghazals popularised by women across the Indian subcontinent. Blending music with brief narration, the show reflects on the artistic choices these voices made in their time—and how those choices continue to shape the space for women in music today.
Jahnvi, known for her versatility and award-winning playback debut with ‘Dholida' (Gangubai Kathiawadi), is accompanied by Omkar Agnihotri on harmonium, Prasad Padhye on tabla, Amit Gadgil on bass guitar, and Sanjoy Das on acoustic guitar. Together, they offer an evening of music that honours both timeless melodies and the women who helped carry them forward.
This performance is supported by Reliance Foundation.
