A soulful Hindustani Classical recital by Prabhakar and Diwakar Kashyap brings you the unmatched sweetness and layakari of Banaras gayaki.
What does it mean for two voices to become one? This moving performance by talented musical duo ‘Kashyap Bandhu’ moves beyond display, reaching for something quieter, deeper, and more primal. A shared breath between artists – a sound that doesn’t separate, but dissolves into unity.
As senior disciples of the doyens of Banaras Gharana–Padmabhushan Pt. Rajan Mishra & Pt. Sajan Mishra—artists Prabhakar and Diwakar Kashyap bring decades of training to this rare format which is neither solo nor jugalbandi, but the perfect unison. Their music flows as one voice—precise, meditative, and full of intent. Spanning khayals, thumris, tappas, and bhajans, the recital draws on the gharana’s signature qualities—sweetness, rhythmic intricacy, and spiritual depth. Accompanied by a talented milieu of musicians like V Narhari on tabla and Siddesh Bicholkar on harmonium, each piece becomes a practice in alignment—between memory, melody, and surrender.
Awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar by the Sangeet Natak Akademi and featured across major national and international stages, ‘Kashyap Bandhu’ continue to uphold a tradition shaped by devotion, rigour, and deep musical insight.
