One Root, Infinite Melodies: Sitar icon Niladri Kumar takes you on an unforgettable journey of Indian music with a tapestry of stories and melodies in the global premiere of his new show.

‘India Dream’ isn't just a concert – it’s a journey into the soul of Indian music. In his much-awaited new production, celebrated sitar maestro Niladri Kumar presents an immersive experience where every melody whispers the grand narrative of India’s musical history, presented as a vibrant whole!

Premiering at The Grand Theatre, the music composed and directed by Niladri Kumar takes you on a journey of how the Sitar travelled through different eras, gharanas, cultures, cities, and countries – imbuing its magic to even contemporary, rock and western soundscapes. From the echoes of ancient ragas to what today’s modern India stands for, the sonic dreamscape celebrates the spirit, heritage and unimaginable power and potential of Indian music.

Experience it all with the unique creative expression of Niladri Kumar’s sitar, blending seamlessly as it travels, meeting different instruments from India’s north, south, east, west and even outside the country. It is a tale of devotion, celebration, and reinvention that is not just heard but felt, one that truly connects.

Having trained under the tutelage of his guru and father Pt. Kartick Kumar from the age of four, the fifth generation sitarist is known for his impeccable technique and distinct style. As a trailblazer, Niladri Kumar’s invention of the ‘Zitar’ (electric sitar) has led to the rise of an all-new genre of music. Deeply rooted in tradition, his music showcases the divine depths of shastriya sangeet and its everlasting relevance in modern times.
