A witty and fast-paced theatrical journey through the sharp satire of celebrated Hindi writer Sharad Joshi, ‘Sharad Joshi Express’ brings five of his most iconic short stories such as Sarkar ka Jadoo, Dibbe Mein Baithe Log, Saari Bahas Se Guzar Kar, Coffee House Mein Baithe Char Vyakti, and Chacha ka Truck aur Hindi Sahitya, to life on stage.
Adapted and directed by Mayank Pahwa, this inventive production unfolds on an Indian railway platform, where a whimsical magician serves as the audience’s guide aboard the fictional Sharad Joshi Express. As the train journeys through Joshi’s world of irony and insight, the stories merge seamlessly, revealing the humour and absurdity hidden in politics, bureaucracy, idleness, and the everyday rhythms of Indian life.
