From Marathi theatre’s beloved star Prashant Damle comes a comedy-drama where a teacher learns his funniest lesson yet — never underestimate your student.
Marathi theatre’s beloved star Prashant Damle returns to the stage with ‘Shikayla Gelo Ek’, a witty and heartwarming comedy-drama written and directed by Adwait Dadarkar, based on a story by D. M. Mirasdar. With over 13,000 live performances to his credit and numerous accolades, including five Limca Book of Records, Damle brings his signature humour and emotional depth to this unforgettable role.
The story follows Mahesh Sane, a humble and honest man from Sadashiv Peth, Pune, recently honoured with the prestigious Adarsh Teacher Award. Known for his integrity and simplicity, he is deeply respected by his community. When an MLA from Kolhapur brings his mischievous son, Shyam, who has repeatedly failed his 10th-grade exams, to Sane for special tuition, the teacher accepts—encouraged by his daughter Vidya—and begins an unusual tutoring journey.
What begins as a well-intentioned lesson soon spirals into comic chaos. Instead of Shyam adopting his Guru ji’s discipline, it is Sane who starts to mirror his student’s erratic ways. The once-ideal teacher’s orderly life unravels in a series of humorous and heartfelt turns, leading to lessons far deeper than he ever intended to teach.

Featuring Hrishikesh Shelar, Anagha Atul, and Sushil Inamdar, ‘Shikayla Gelo Ek’ is a delightful reflection on human nature—a story that finds laughter in life’s reversals and warmth in its imperfections.
