Witness a cross-cultural collaboration where Kuchipudi dancer Yamini Kalluri, pianist Neville Bharucha, and violinist Sophia Schrader reinterpret iconic ballet scores through the expressive language of Indian classical dance.
Acclaimed Kuchipudi dancer Yamini Kalluri joins pianist Neville Bharucha and violinist Sophia Schrader in this spectacular production to explore an extraordinary meeting point between two classical worlds.
Drawing from the Western ballet canon, the performance reimagines beloved scores, including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Rodeo, and Petrushka through Yamini’s choreographic lens, shaped by the precision of Indian classical dance and the fluidity of contemporary movement. Interwoven with lyrical miniatures by Brahms, Kreisler, Rachmaninoff, and Grieg, the show unfolds as a dialogue between music and movement, tradition and reinvention.
A disciple of Padmashri Dr. Sobha Naidu and a graduate of the Martha Graham School in New York, Yamini continues to expand the vocabulary of Kuchipudi through her foundation, Kritya. With Bharucha’s nuanced piano and Schrader’s evocative violin, ‘Lines Unbound’ bridges cultures and centuries, where ballet finds new rhythm in the language of Kuchipudi.
