Vocalist and composer Saptak Chatterjee invites listeners into a soundscape where centuries of Hindustani traditions meet the pulse of contemporary music.
The first song Saptak Chatterjee ever wrote was born from years of taleem, tradition, and a deep love for the music of his childhood. A song that became more than a composition, ‘Dariya’ is a philosophy of sound itself—fluid, unbounded, and open to every influence it encounters. Each of Saptak’s works since carries this ethos, where classical depth meets the ease and texture of modern sound.
A third-generation vocalist of the Kirana gharana, Saptak trained for nearly two decades under his grandfather Pt. Arun Kumar Chatterjee and father, the late Pt. Sarathi Chatterjee, both distinguished Hindustani musicians. His performances across India and abroad, including a tour with Bharat Ratna Pt. Ravi Shankar, reflect a seamless balance of tradition and reinvention.
In ‘Dariya’, Saptak brings together Parijat Kirti on acoustic guitar, Vinayak Sharma on keys, Shrikant Bishwakarma on electric guitar, Madhur Chaudhary on bass, and Dimpal Kimar on drums—a collective that creates a living soundscape of pop-rock and Indian fusion, where every stream of melody finds its place in a larger ocean of sound.
