Witness a soul-stirring sarod recital by Shiraz Ali Khan, grandson of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, accompanied by tabla virtuoso Ojas Adhiya, in an evening of ragas that evoke devotion, stillness, and transcendence.
Drawing from the deep well of Hindustani classical tradition, this recital invites listeners into a meditative soundscape shaped by centuries of musical wisdom. Melodic and immersive, the performance journeys through emotion and stillness, offering not just music but a spiritual experience.
Grandson of the legendary Swara Samrat Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Shiraz Ali Khan was initiated into the Senia Beenkar and Senia Rababiya gharanas at the age of five, training under his father Prof. Dhyanesh Khan, his grandfather, and other maestros of the lineage. Over the years, he has performed at celebrated festivals across the globe—from the Konya Mystic Music Festival in Turkey to the Dover Lane Music Conference in India—sharing the stage with icons such as Zakir Hussain and Swapan Chaudhuri. Today, alongside performing, he mentors advanced students in India and abroad, carrying forward the legacy of his gharana.
In this recital, Shiraz is joined by tabla virtuoso Ojas Adhiya, one of India’s foremost percussionists. His dynamic artistry and nuanced rhythm add a vibrant dimension to the sarod’s resonant strings. Together, they invite listeners into a space where music becomes a gateway to the infinite.
This performance is supported by Reliance Foundation.
