Witness a dialogue of rhythm and movement as Kathak and Lavani exponent Aditi Bhagwat and Flamenco artist Bettina Castaño unite three vibrant traditions in one stunning performance.
Across continents and centuries, Kathak and Flamenco have shared a mirrored vocabulary of rhythm, footwork, and expressive power. In ‘Crossroads’, Aditi Bhagwat and Bettina Castaño uncover these resonances, tracing echoes from the nomadic gypsies of Rajasthan to the flamenco traditions of southern Spain.
At the heart of their collaboration lies a rhythmic dialogue—ghungroos and handclaps, swift pirouettes and fiery turns, tabla and flamenco guitar—interwoven with the folk vibrancy of Lavani and the passionate spirit of Flamenco. Accompanying them on stage are musicians Swapnil Bhise on tabla, Emmanuel Simon on percussion, Shruti Bhave on violin and vocals, and Chetan Kinhekar on flamenco guitar, creating a rich soundscape that bridges cultures and traditions.
Aditi, an internationally acclaimed Kathak and Lavani performer from Mumbai, is celebrated for her cross-genre explorations that span world music, jazz, and folk forms, grounded in a deep classical foundation. Bettina, one of Flamenco’s most versatile performers, brings decades of experience collaborating across cultures, from Romani musicians to symphony orchestras. Together, they expand the boundaries of their art while honouring its lineage.
