Witness an evening of inventive Polish jazz where free-flowing improvisation, textured soundscapes, and raw energy come together in a performance that feels both spontaneous and masterfully composed.
A collective of bold improvisers and inventive composers, this performance introduces the pulse of contemporary Polish jazz to India. Formed in 2018 by guitarist and composer Mikołaj Poncyljusz, ‘Light Star Guiding’ brings together Ray Dickaty on tenor saxophone and flute, Michał Załęski on keys, moog, and bass, and Dominik Mokrzewski on drums, each a leading voice in Poland’s thriving jazz and alternative music scenes.
With roots in free jazz and experimental rock, ‘Light Star Guiding’ creates spontaneous, high-energy performances shaped by shifting grooves, layered improvisations, and moments of intense emotion. The music moves between hypnotic rhythms and cosmic soundscapes, blending precision with unpredictability, a balance that has earned them a growing following across Europe.
From their breakout performance at Tchnienia Festival alongside composer Hania Rani to recent shows at JAZZ PO POLSKU in Warsaw, the quartet has become known for transforming every stage into an electrifying space of musical dialogue. Now, as part of the JAZZ PO POLSKU Around the World project, they bring their dynamic sound to India, following acclaimed appearances at major events such as the Nishville International Jazz Festival in Serbia.
Blurring genre lines and guided by collective intuition, ‘Light Star Guiding’ offers an evening of fearless improvisation where jazz expands into something vivid, cosmic, and unmistakably alive.
