This stirring dramatic reading powered with songs tells the story of two sisters from a family of singers. One becomes a radio star, but both face repeated struggles and exploitation. Their lives reveal not only the challenges faced by women, but also the emptiness concealed behind the wealth and power of feudal households.
The performance is based on the writing of Qurratul Ain Hyder—novelist, short story writer, and one of Urdu literature’s most celebrated voices. A recipient of the Jnanpith Award, Sahitya Akademi Fellowship, and Padma Bhushan, Hyder’s work is brought to life on stage under the stellar direction of Rasika Agashe.
