A guru’s legacy lives on through the art, discipline, and devotion of their disciples. ‘Guru Pratishtha’ is a tribute to the unparalleled contributions of Guru Bipin Singh, a visionary who redefined Manipuri dance through his mastery of Raas and Sankirtan, deep-rooted understanding of shastras, and innovative choreographic language.
Curated by Darshana Jhaveri, his foremost disciple and collaborator, along with acclaimed Manipuri exponent Sanjib Bhattacharya, this presentation brings history to life. Archival footage, lecture demonstrations, and performances come together to tell an impactful story. Through solos, duets, and ensemble pieces, the evening unfolds as a tribute to a timeless practice passed down through generations.
Jhaveri, a pioneering force in Manipuri dance, has dedicated her life to preserving its classical essence while expanding its global reach. Bhattacharya, known for his extensive performances and pedagogy across India and abroad, continues to carry forward this rich tradition.
