Embark on a two-act journey of mythology, from Shiva’s Jyotirlingas and Abhimanyu’s tale to Arjuna’s trials, brought to life through a bouquet of Kuchipudi, Chhau, Bharatanatyam and Kathakali.
Witness Indian mythology unfold on stage as timeless stories of devotion, transformation, and divine power are expressed through mesmerising dance movements that will leave you spellbound. The evening begins with the RASA United Dance Company, led by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Vanashree Rao presenting a seamless blend of Bharatanatyam, Chhau, and Kuchipudi. This act explores the spiritual significance of Shiva’s 12 Jyotirlingas, celebrated as symbols of personal and spiritual growth, and also reimagines the poignant Abhimanyu Vadh.
The second act, ‘Kiratham’ by C. Gopalakrishnan & Troupe, brings the epic Mahabharata to the showcase in the traditional Kathakali style. It narrates Arjuna’s transformative encounter with Lord Shiva, disguised as a tribal hunter, testing Arjuna’s humility and devotion. Through intricate movements, expressive storytelling, and vibrant choreography, the tale unfolds as Arjuna earns the divine Pasupathasthram after shedding his pride and ego.
Together, these acts take you on a captivating exploration of India’s rich mythology, beautifully intertwined with the grace and power of classical dance.
