Witness an electrifying jugalbandi as Grammy-nominee Debashish Bhattacharya joins Taufiq Qureshi and Yogesh Samsi in a musical masterpiece.
Invented, innovated, and devised by Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya, a rare musical dialogue unfolds as three maestros unite to present ‘Chaturang,’ a dynamic blend of melody and rhythm. This unique concert presents the first-ever combined showcase of four distinct string instruments – Chaturangui, Gandharvi, Pushpa Veena, and Anandi – alongside the intricate percussive interplay of djembe and tabla, performed by Debashish Bhattacharya, Taufiq Qureshi, and Yogesh Samsi.
Bhattacharya, a globally celebrated slide guitarist and two-time Grammy nominee, has expanded the possibilities of raga performance with his custom-designed instruments. Qureshi, the renowned Indian percussionist recognised as a game-changer and pioneer of the African Djembe in the context of Indian rhythms and tabla, infuses an exciting cross-cultural energy into the performance. Samsi, a master of the Punjab Gharana, carries forward the legacy of his guru, Ustad Allah Rakha, with unmatched tonal clarity and artistry. The evening culminates in a djembe-tabla jugalbandi, a tribute to Ustad Zakir Hussain on his 74th birthday.
‘Chaturang’ is an extraordinary exchange of innovation and tradition, where strings and rhythm come alive in an unforgettable musical experience.
