Watch Vedika Kumarswami’s renowned ‘Gaavnavri’ unfold in a beautiful musical, as a young girl destined to be a devadasi escapes her fate and forges her own destiny.
In a society bound by rigid traditions, one young girl’s defiance sparks a journey of survival and self-discovery. Born into a devadasi lineage, Vedika rejects her fate as an 11-year-old bride, choosing to reclaim her life and identity. By divorcing the almighty and finding empowerment in the sacred tales of goddesses, she uncovers the strength to rewrite her destiny.
‘Tuji Aukat Kaye?’ is a vibrant musical adaptation of Vedika Kumarswami’s book titled ‘Gaavnavri’. The production features eight evocative songs, including a Nandi by B.V. Karanth, three Kannada Joggapa songs, and original Hindi and Marathi compositions, which enrich the story with cultural depth and emotion.
Directed by Pratiksha Khasnis and Nikita Thube, and performed alongside Kalpesh Samel, Deep Dabare, and Swapnil Bhave, it offers a dynamic exploration of resilience and empowerment. Pratiksha Khasnis, an award-winning theatre artist and co-founder of Tiny Tales, brings her mastery to this poignant story, while Nikita Thube’s compelling performance adds life to Vedika’s transformative journey.
Join us for an evening of songs and poetry that paints Vedika’s story in vibrant hues!
