This presentation celebrates the rich heritage and devotional essence of the dance form, featuring a carefully chosen repertoire of classical works — from the invocation to Ardhanarishwara, to the intricate varnam, expressive abhinaya keertanam, soulful javali, and vibrant thillana. Each composition seamlessly combines precision, emotion, and devotion, creating a mesmerising experience.
Led by Shankar Kandasamy, a renowned dancer and choreographer based in Malaysia, this performance showcases his profound understanding of Sanskrit, Tamil, and Carnatic music. Shankar’s vitality and energy, balanced by sculptural poses and vivid storytelling abilities, bring to life many divine tales with an unmatched grace. His innovative approach to Bharatanatyam has earned him global recognition, with acclaimed works such as Thevaram, Ramayana Explorations, and Ashtanayika. Shankar’s artistry, coupled with his deep devotion to the craft, has captivated audiences not only in Chennai and other parts of India but across the world. A recipient of the Aryabhatta Award, his dedication to the art form continues to inspire and enchant, making him one of the most respected figures in the global dance community.
