Immerse yourself in a celebration of classic literature and the evocative art of storytelling with Utopia Communication's ‘Dastangoi Gujarati’, where timeless tales come to life on stage. This thoughtfully curated event delves into universal themes of love, identity, resilience, and human connection, weaving cultural legacy and contemporary artistic expression into a moving performance.
The lineup features five iconic stories, each brought to life by acclaimed artists. Sejal Pondaa presents Chunilal Madia’s ‘Amba Goranino Parbudo’, offering a nuanced performance that captures the story's emotional depth. Kuldeep Gor performs ‘Dhoomketu’ by Jumo Bishti, holding the audience spellbound with his compelling narrative style. The celebrated Alpana Buch delivers a heartfelt rendition of ‘Jato Halkaro’ by Zaverchand Meghani, drawing on her deep connection to Gujarati folklore. Ojas Dave, a promising star of Gujarati theatre, infuses ‘Chhatri’ by Jyotindra Dave with wit and charm. Finally, Paresh Vora brings gravitas and sensitivity to ‘Janmotsav’ by Suresh Joshi, exploring the complexities of life.
Directed by Pritesh Sodha and conceptualised by Hiten Anandpara, ‘Dastangoi Gujarati’ seamlessly integrates the rich heritage of Gujarati literature with the intimate artistry of Urdu storytelling. Each performance serves as a masterful tribute to the power of language and narrative, offering a gripping experience that resonates deeply with audiences.
