Embark on a mesmerising Odissi dance journey through India’s six seasons, celebrating nature, tradition, and the eternal rhythm of life, brought to life through the concept and choreography of Guru Sharmila Mukerjee.
Through the lyrical grace of Odissi, ‘Rituyaana’ takes audiences on a captivating journey through the six seasons of the Hindu calendar. Each season — Vasanta (Spring), a time of renewal; Grishma (Summer), honouring Surya, the Sun God; Varsha (Monsoon), vital for agriculture; Sharad (Autumn), marked by festivals like Navaratri; Hemanta (Pre-Winter); and Shishira (Winter), associated with harvest and seasonal celebrations — unfolds as a reflection of the ancient Indian way of life. Together, these seasons highlight humanity's enduring harmony with nature and the cyclical rhythm of time.
‘Rituyaana’ celebrates the timeless Indian ethos of living in balance with the environment. Performed by Anushree Padmanabha, a virtuoso of Odissi, the performance is a seamless blend of storytelling and movement. Through intricate choreography and expressive movement, Anushree brings each season to life, weaving a spellbinding narrative of tradition, culture, and our deep connection to the natural world.
Trained under Vidushi Smita Panigrahi and Sharmila Mukerjee at the Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance, Anushree has graced prestigious stages worldwide, from the Uday Shankar Dance Festival to international performances in East Africa and Seychelles. Experience the magic of her artistry live on stage!
