Embark on an immersive journey, where timeless Middle Eastern traditions meet fresh, modern musical interpretations.
Founded in 2009, this world music trio transports audiences into an acoustic desert fantasy, inspired by the spirit of the Middle East. Drawing from influences of Persian, Azerbaijani, Arabic, and Turkish music, ‘Faran’ has crafted a unique sound, deeply rooted in the Eastern Maqam scales. The group features Roy Smila on Kamancha, Refael Ben-Zichry on percussion, and Gad Tidhar on Oud.
Their music transcends words, guiding listeners on an introspective journey through evocative rhythms and textures that evoke the vastness of the desert. This fusion of tradition and innovation has captivated audiences around the world.
Faran’s debut album in 2012 earned wide acclaim, paving the way for a European tour. Their second album, ‘Fata Morgana’, released in 2016, further solidified their presence in the world music scene. Along the way, Faran has won three grand prizes at Amsterdam’s Jewish Music Competition and appeared in U2’s Song for Someone video. Now preparing to release their third album, the group continues to enchant with performances that blend rhythmic intensity and melodic depth.
