Enjoy a spectacular tour across the country as dance virtuoso Prashant Bhafalekar partners with Nagbadevi Kala Mancha to showcase the rich diversity of Indian dance forms.
Prepare to be mesmerised by the cultural heritage of India, celebrating Devi — the embodiment of feminine power. Award-winning dance master Bhafalekar brings 29 years of expertise to the stage for this stellar showcase, leading a talented troupe to present five awe-inspiring folk dance forms from various corners of India.
Get transported to Tripura with Hojagiri. Traditionally performed on the full moon night after Durga Puja, it honours Goddess Mailuma (Laxmi), featuring male performers singing and playing Kham and Sumui (Kshumu).
Discover Thougal Jagoi, a dance of the Mei Tei community from Manipur. Performed in celebration of the harvest, it presents local myths and traditions through delicate and vigorous movements, culminating in a spirited tug-of-war won by the females, symbolising their strength and unity.
Immerse yourself in lively Garba from Gujarat, synonymous with Navaratri celebrations. This colourful tradition features dancers balancing decorated pots on their heads, moving in circles while clapping and singing songs dedicated to the goddess and Krishna Leela.
Experience Karaghattam, an ancient folk dance from Tamil Nadu that blends Bharatanatyam postures with Carnatic songs, invoking the rain goddess Mariamman.
Revel in Divlyan Naach, or Lamp Dance, from Goa, where dancers balance brass lamps on their heads while executing graceful movements. It demonstrates exceptional control and gymnastic skill, set to lively songs highlighting Goan culture.
Surrender to this enchanting evening that pays tribute to traditions and celebrates the powerful spirit of Indian folk dance!
