Surrender to the fusion of Indian classical charm and folk magic as Ustad Fazal Qureshi’s enchanting performance sets the stage ablaze with a mesmerising confluence of rhythms.
‘Ustad Fazal Qureshi's Rhythm Unplugged’ celebrates India’s rich tapestry of rhythmic forms, shaped by classical, Western, and folk influences. Tracing the origins and evolution of rhythm, the concert is brought to life through the camaraderie of various instruments — featuring Ustad Qureshi on tabla, Sridar Parthsarathy on mridangam, Dilshad Khan on sarangi, Vijay Chouhan on dholki, Nitish Ranadive on percussion, and Jakir Khan Hamira on khartal, along with students from the Ustad Alla Rakha Institute of Music — uniting in the universal language of rhythm.
Hailing from a lineage steeped in the taal of tabla, Ustad Qureshi has inherited the gift of music. Under the guidance of his guru and father, the legendary tabla maestro Ustad Alla Rakha, and inspired by his brother Ustad Zakir Hussain, he has developed a unique style known for its exquisite sense of rhythm, versatility, and eloquence.
With over 40 years of experience, Ustad Qureshi has broadened his horizons by exploring various musical styles, particularly jazz and Western classical music. He runs a tabla institute to share his gift, is an integral member of the Sweden-based band Mynta, and has contributed to numerous sammelans, films, and albums.
Come, flow with the rhythm — don’t miss this extraordinary musical journey!
