Dance and devotion intertwine in a breathtaking spectacle as the magic of Mohiniyattam unfolds through spiritual expression.
Get ready to be entranced by ‘Anāhata’, an all-encompassing performance conceived and choreographed by the talented Malavika Menon, featuring a stunning musical composition by Bhagyalakshmi Guruvayur.
This showcase explores different aspects of bhakti, culminating in a journey of liberation through deep love for a deity. It takes you through the poetic works of revered bhakti saints from the Indian subcontinent, unveiling the rich emotions that inspired their fervent devotion. Each poet, hailing from diverse regions, cultural backgrounds, and linguistic traditions, converges on a shared path. Selected verses from luminaries such as Sree Narayana Guru, Annamacharya, Mirabai, Jayadeva, and Namdev have also been beautifully adapted to the evocative style of Mohiniyattam.
Malavika is a distinguished practitioner of this dance form, known for her innovative interpretations and deep commitment to the art. A senior disciple of Guru Vinitha Nedungadi and a recipient of the prestigious ‘Senior Scholarship in Mohiniyattam from the Ministry of Culture’, she is also an empanelled artiste of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and a Doordarshan graded artist. Malavika’s contributions extend beyond her performances, enriching the community through her teaching initiatives.
