Witness the raw dynamics of friendship and the intricacies of human emotions as Ira Lewis’ masterpiece takes shape under the directorial vision of Danish Husain.
‘Chinese Coffee’ is a masterful adaptation of the American satirical tragedy of the same name. Exploring the nuances of friendship and betrayal, the play follows two friends as they fall out during a conversation.
Harry Levine and Jake Manheim are friends and failed artists. Harry is an obscure novelist believed by most publishers to be deceased, while Jake is a brilliant writer with two critically acclaimed short stories to his credit. As the story unfolds, Jake suspects that Harry has stolen his life experiences for his novel. What starts as a tense discussion quickly escalates into a fierce verbal duel, culminating in bitterness and acrimony that neither can escape.
The story is brought to stage by celebrated theatre and television actors Vrajesh Hirjee and Danish Husain. Their electrifying performances breathe life into Lewis's original narrative, leaving the audience gasping for air as they navigate a conflict that feels intensely personal and claustrophobic.
