Classic meets contemporary as tabla prodigy Ojas Adhiya brings a spellbinding solo showcase, followed by a harmonious camaraderie of Western and Hindustani instruments alongside a stellar ensemble.
The Limca Book of Records recognised him as the youngest tabla player in India in 1993, the Sangeet Natak Academy bestowed upon him the Ustad Bismillah Khan Puraskar, and the 'Little-Wonders' program of Kalyanji-Anandji spotlighted his talent across the globe with over 500 shows — with expert training, an illustrious career, and a remarkable gift, Ojas Adhiya’s enchanting artistry is now coming to NMACC for you to experience up close!
‘Rhythms of the Heart’ will greet you with a traditional tabla performance, highlighting Adhiya’s musical prowess in a captivating solo. The following segment will lift your spirits with a vibrant collective, as the tabla maestro is joined by ID Rao on saxophone, Sanjoy Das on guitar, Vishal Dhumal on keyboard, and Siddhesh Bicholkar on harmonium. Together, they will present original compositions that beautifully blend Indian, jazz, and Western music for a cultural exploration.
Adhiya’s passion for music was discovered at the age of two by his father, Dr. Yogesh Adhiya, during a chanting and meditation session. To nurture this talent, his father placed him under the guidance of renowned music directors Kalyanji-Anandji, followed by formal training with Guru Mridangraj. Known for his dexterous fingering techniques and fluid presentation, he stands out for his remarkable adaptability. His expertise spans a diverse range of genres, including Indian classical music, ghazals, light Indian music, jazz, and symphony orchestras.
Prepare for an evening of musical mastery that will linger in your heart long after the curtain call!
