Sangeet Natak Akademi awardees Anil Srinivasan and Sikkil Gurucharan present poetry through a classical piano experience, enriched by the rhythms of master percussionist Sumesh Narayan.
Join us for an enchanting evening of contemporary Indian music featuring the celebrated ‘Anil Sikkil duo’. This dynamic collaboration brings to life a diverse range of poetry drawn from ancient, medieval, and modern times, in various languages — including Tamil, Telugu, Sanskrit, Hindi, Bengali, and Malayalam — all rendered in the rich tradition of South Indian classical music.
Sikkil’s powerful voice merges with Anil’s piano prowess, creating a captivating soundscape enhanced with the creative percussive elements by Sumesh on mridangam. Prepare to be moved as this performance evokes a rich tapestry of emotions, exploring themes of romance, nostalgia, spirituality, and national identity. The evening will also feature 20th and 21st-century poetry, interspersed with translated texts and engaging exchanges between the musicians.
Both Anil and Sikkil are recipients of the Kalaimamani, Tamil Nadu’s highest honour in the field of arts. Over two decades, they have forged a unique path in Indian musical expressions with a dozen albums and hundreds of concerts around the globe.
