Join acclaimed dancer and photographer Rishi Raj for a one-of-a-kind workshop that celebrates movement, emotion, and storytelling through the lens.
Where movement meets the lens, something powerful takes shape. This interactive workshop, led by acclaimed dance photographer and performer Rishi Raj, invites dancers and photographers into a shared creative space—one where both sides learn, collaborate, and create together. It blends open dialogue, live demonstration, and hands-on practice, focusing equally on technical skills and artistic intent.
The session will guide photographers through camera and phone settings, lighting, shutter speed, and composition, while dancers will discover how to work with the camera—how to hold movement, shape expression, and tell a visual story. It also introduces participants to the unique rhythm and aesthetics of different dance styles, from classical and contemporary to folk, and how these forms influence photographic choices.
Dancers are encouraged to attend in their preferred costumes, as they will have the chance to be professionally photographed – going home with images shot during the session for their personal portfolios or social media.
A Kalakshetra graduate trained in Kathak, Bharatanatyam, ballet, and folk dance, Rishi Raj began capturing dance with a smartphone before pursuing photography full time. Open to photographers, dancers, content creators, as well as students and educators from dance and visual arts, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to see how two art forms can come together.
