In Edgar Allan Poe’s short story 'The System of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether', an unnamed narrator visits a mental institution to investigate its unconventional methods of care. Welcomed by the superintendent, he encounters a group of eccentric individuals who claim to be his colleagues. As the evening unfolds, the narrator becomes entangled in a bizarre and unsettling series of events.
