Join us for an artistic fusion of Dante’s ‘The Divine Comedy’ and Bharatanatyam, where tradition, innovation, and timeless storytelling come together in a mesmerising journey.
Presented by Instabili Vaganti, Ahum Trust, and the Italian Institute of Culture, this Italian-Indian co-production celebrates the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s ‘The Divine Comedy’. The performance blends experimental theatre, Bharatanatyam dance, electronic music, video art, and cinema into a powerful cross-cultural experience.
Directed by Anna Dora Dorno, the show features Nicola Pianzola and Anuradha Venkataraman, who bring Dante’s journey to life. Ancient Italian texts intertwine with Bharatanatyam’s mudras and gestures, create a dynamic dialogue between two rich traditions. The evocative soundscapes by Oscar-winning composer Riccardo Nanni add a contemporary edge, while the video art enhances the storytelling.
This performance explores themes of absence and connection, reflecting the philosophical and theological parallels between Dante’s vision and Indian culture. It is a profound journey into the universal human experience, transcending time, language, and borders.
