Delve into a technicolour soundscape where Carnatic Classical meets jazz and electronica with New-Jersey-based singer and violinist Harini Srinivasa Raghavan.
If you’re a fan of genre-travelling sounds, the release of Chennai-born, New Jersey-based singer-composer Harini Srinivasa Raghavan’s latest single ‘Moon Thuli’ is as good a reason as any to dive into the vibrant world of Carnatic jazz fusion.
As a seasoned violinist and an inventive force in the Indian electronica scene, Harini aka Rini dabbles many talents that shine through the course of the concert. But what stands out most brilliantly are her enigmatic vocals, accompanied by an international crew of musicians who add their own spark to the fire – Andrew Cheng (guitar), Achal Murthy (bass), Shahar Amdor (saxophone), and Ranajoy Das (drums). Together, the ensemble celebrates a rich tapestry of cultural influences, making every performance a global experience that resonates with music lovers from all backgrounds. Brace yourself for an evening of high-energy performances, intricate musical dialogues, and beautiful artist-audience moments!
Rini has recorded and performed with Grammy-winning composers A.R. Rahman, Bill Whelan and renowned singer-songwriter Idan Raichel, putting up shows at prestigious venues such as Boston Symphony Hall, Lincoln Center, Beacon Theatre, the United Nations General Assembly, Bluefrog Bangalore and more. Her music draws from her formal training in Carnatic Classical as well as her time at the Berklee College of Music studying Electronic Production. The result – audacious new sounds that move you in ways you don’t expect!
