An avant-garde instrumental symphony where imaginative flautist Naveen Kumar merges the traditional with the contemporary.
Experience an immersive instrumental concert that pushes the boundaries of auditory perception, as ace flautist Naveen Kumar reimagines the tenets of Indian Classical music with contemporary imagination.
Bolstered by musical mavericks Ojas Adhiya on tabla, Greg Ellis on percussions, and Vishal Dhumal on keyboard, the virtuoso presents six captivating pieces that showcase the rich, melodic inspiration of songs from his eight illustrious albums. With each new piece, the audience is invited to delve deeper into the layered soundscape of the ‘bansuri’, while a soulful narrative traces the highs and lows of human emotions. The concert is a testament to the evolving identity of Indian Classical music, and the beautiful, potent space that exists between tradition and modernity.
Naveen Kumar is a trailblazing Indian flautist who is known for his unique technique and specialisation in woodwind instruments from around the world. The self-taught prodigy with a foundation in Indian Classical music has mastered not just the traditional ‘bansuri’, but nine different kinds of flutes, experimenting with the expressive range of the instrument along the way. He even created his own variety of the flute, dubbed the ‘Naveen flute’, which combines the tone of the flute and the vibration of strings. His multifaceted musical personal as a singer, composer, producer, and performer has led to some remarkable collaborations with composers like A.R. Rahman, Ilayaraja, Pritam, Shankar-Ehasaan-Loy, Sajid-Wajid, and Salim-Sulaiman, as well as musicians such as Sivamani, Louiz Banks, Mandolin Srinivas, and John McLaughlin.
