Experience the grace and joy of Kathak as Sohini Karanth takes you on a journey to the heart of this timeless classical dance form.
Celebrate the beauty and artistry of Kathak with an evening featuring the acclaimed Sohini Karanth. In recent years, Kathak has increasingly gravitated toward pure dance, moving away from its original essence — the art of storytelling. At its heart, however, this art form has always been about conveying tales, emotions, and the nuances of human experience through intricate movements. With over two decades of rigorous training, Sohini brings this classical dance form back to its roots, capturing its profound storytelling tradition by reviving abhinaya in its authentic form — Satvikābinaya.
This soulful experience is called 'Rasajña' — the master of emotions, where every moment unfolds a new story. The performance promises to immerse the audience in a vivid tapestry of rasas (emotions), with each expression resonating deeply and evoking a powerful connection with the audience.
Under the guidance of eminent gurus like Smt. Nivedita Bhattacharya, Smt. Nirupama Rajendra, and Guru Shama Bhate, Sohini has become renowned for her swiftness, grace, and mastery of Kathak's intricate chakkars. As the founder of the esteemed Sāttvatī School of Dance, she has touched the lives of over 1500 students worldwide, ensuring that the legacy of Kathak lives on. Her performances have graced prestigious stages such as the Sangeet Natak Akademi in Delhi, the Ananya Festival in Bengaluru, and numerous international platforms.
‘Rasajña’ is not just a performance, it is a journey through the very soul of Kathak. Come, be a part of this celebration of its timeless narrative power and enduring charm.
