The unique musical fusion led by Grammy-winning saxophone Lars Møller features eminent violinist Kala Ramnath and blends Indian ragas with Scandinavian jazz to offer a cross-cultural sound.

‘RagaJazz’ is a mesmerising fusion of Indian Classical music and Scandinavian jazz, helmed by Grammy-winning Danish saxophonist Lars Møller and Indian violin exponent Kala Ramnath. This musical journey brings together esteemed artists from two distinct traditions to create an intense, melodic, and architecturally beautiful sound. RagaJazz explores the rich textures of Indian ragas, blending them seamlessly with the structural elegance of European jazz for a sound that’s both expressive and contemplative.

At the forefront is Ramnath, whose violin playing is celebrated worldwide for its emotional depth and virtuosity. Alongside, Møller’s artistry brings depth and versatility, shaped by his profound understanding of both jazz and Indian music. Thor Madsen, a highly sought-after guitarist in both Europe and the U.S., adds dynamic layers of influence from diverse genres. Adding to this fusion are the tabla rhythms of Abhijit Banerjee, whose style combines sensitivity and creativity, and the orchestral touch of drummer Jonas Johansen, a 35-year jazz veteran with over 180 album credits.

The RagaJazz album, ‘Purple Twilight’, and Lars Møller’s ‘Glow of Benares’, set new artistic standards for cross-cultural music. Having performed worldwide, including at the royal Danish state visit to India, RagaJazz brings to the Cultural Centre a captivating celebration of musical synergy.
