Bringing together the richness of Indian classical traditions and the energy of Western music, ‘Melody Junction' offers a unique cross-cultural experience.
Conceived by tabla expert V. Narhari, the ensemble blends the melodies and rhythms of India with genres like jazz, blues, and rock, creating a sonic landscape that feels both familiar and innovative. The lineup features Ramakant Gaikwad on vocals, known for his Kirana and Patiala gharana influences, and Bhaskar Das on flute, whose style is distinct for immense depth and authenticity. Sarangi virtuoso Sandeep Mishra brings the timeless essence of Banaras gharana, while Bollywood arranger Amit Padhye’s keyboard compositions add a modern touch to the mix. The rhythm section, featuring Akash Bharadwaj on cajón and drums, lends a versatile beat underlined by the jazz-rock influences of his mentors. Guitarist Utkarsh Srivastava completes the diverse ensemble that comes together to craft a rich immersive experience across cultural boundaries.
