Witness a gripping tale of power, deception, and survival, exposing the harsh realities of a corrupt political system under the directorial brilliance of Ramesh Talwar.
In a world where power exploits the vulnerable, a destitute man is coerced into assuming a false identity – not by choice, but by necessity. Forced by local politicians to pose as a freedom fighter, he initially sees the role as an escape from his harsh reality. But as the lie deepens, he realises he is nothing more than a pawn in a game of political deception. Set against contemporary India, this powerful play reveals the stark contrast between the noble ideals of the nation's freedom struggle and the cynical, self-serving politics of today.
Originally written in Bengali by Debasis Majumdar and translated by Santwana Nigam, ‘Kashmakash’ is directed by Ramesh Talwar and produced by IPTA Mumbai. The production features a stellar cast including Aanjjan Srivastav, Sulbha Arya, Avtar Gill/Masood Akhtar, and others. With evocative sets by Shaili Sathyu and music by Kuldip Singh, the play offers a powerful commentary on truth, manipulation, and the cost of survival in an unforgiving system.
