This Mother’s Day, experience the beauty and depth of motherhood in a captivating dance theatrical, driven by the creative genius of choreographer Phulawa Khamkar and directed by Suraj Parasnis & Virajas Kulkarni.
Produced by Theatron Entertainment and PSDG Studios, ‘Ek Tichi Goshta’ is a heartfelt celebration of the nurturing forces, brought to life by the mother-daughter duo – Phulawa and Aasma Khamkar. This musical dance spectacle seamlessly blends various dance forms and original compositions, featuring a dynamic ensemble of twelve dancers. The showcase presents a moving fusion of contemporary and classical Indian dance, offering a truly unique theatrical experience.
‘Ek Tichi Goshta’ tells the story of Anaya, a woman in her forties feeling trapped in the routine of life and burdened by unfulfilled dreams. Her chance encounter with a vibrant teenage girl, who has no memories of her past, sparks a journey of self-discovery. As Anaya helps the girl reconnect with her lost history, the girl’s enthusiasm rekindles Anaya’s own forgotten passions, encouraging her to embrace new opportunities and face her fears. Through the powerful medium of dance, Virajas Kulkarni’s poignant tale explores themes of womanhood, passion, and the timeless spirit of youth.
The showrunner Phulawa is best known for her groundbreaking work in the film ‘Natarang’, where her choreography for Apsara Aali and Vajale Ki Bara redefined the portrayal of Lavani in Marathi cinema. With over 25 years of experience, she has received numerous prestigious awards, served as a jury member on popular reality shows, and mentored countless students at her Mumbai-based institution – Phulawa’s School of Dance and Gymnastics – including her daughter, Aasma. Known for combining traditional and modern dance styles with emotional depth, she creates immersive experiences like ‘Ek Tichi Goshta’, which continue to push the boundaries of dance theatre.
Celebrate Mother’s Day with this soulful showcase that highlights the power of embracing one’s past to create a brighter future.
